About Joseph Nelson

Joseph Nelson

Joseph Nelson founded Stewardship Investments in 2007 with a strong desire to come alongside people to help them invest wisely. His desire is to assist people with Comprehensive Financial Planning so that all aspects of their finances will be aligned with a biblical foundation. It is Joseph’s passion that each client feels joyfully confident on their financial journey. Proverbs 21:5 states, “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.”

He helps clients define and prioritize their goals and dreams and develop individually-tailored strategies to achieve them. By examining cash flows, educational needs, retirement expectations, estate planning concerns, and risk exposures, Joseph delivers Comprehensive Financial Planning solutions. These solutions include asset allocation modeling and investment and insurance strategies consistent with clients’ time horizons, risk tolerances, and overall financial objectives. Asset allocation does not ensure a profit or guarantee against loss, it is a method used to help manage risk.

Joseph worked for eight years with a Bible translation mission spending most of that time in Kenya, Africa managing project funds. Here he saw firsthand the impact financial resources can have when used strategically for the kingdom.

He serves on the missions committee at Grace Chapel, where he is also active Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University classes. Joseph enjoys photography, running and reading. He is a resident of Northern Minnesota along with his wife, Carol, and three children: Abigail, Caleb and Gracie.

His background includes communications consulting, business development, teaching business classes as an adjunct professor and E-commerce marketing.

Matt believes in biblical stewardship and feels that Psalm 24:1 (NIV) The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; perfectly illustrates how believers should understand their money and is a key foundation to helping Joe's clients achieve their goals. Matt’s greatest desire for a client of Stewardship Investments is to see them reach their goals by coming along side them with the heart of a teacher and friend. He thrives on relationships and feels that true fellowship does not exist without genuine relationships.

Matt enjoys involvement with his church softball team as well as hunting, fishing, and hiking. Matt also coaches Cross Country for Oak Hills Christian College. He has been married to his wife and best friend, Shelbi for the past 4 years. They have a dog, Daisy who is referred to as a "cute little monster." She is an Australian Shepard and has enough energy for an entire flock of sheep... if only they had a farm!

Education:

  • BS Economics from Bemidji State University – Bemidji, MN
  • MBA from Ohio Christian University – Circleville, OH

About Tabitha

Tabitha joined Stewardship Investments in February 2015 with the desire to be part of a team that helps people reach their goals. Her passions for understanding people, research, and attention to detail led her to graduate from Bemidji State with a BSc in Psychology.

Tabitha helps clients achieve their financial goals by tending to their administrative needs. These include establishing investment accounts that are maintained accurately, keeping up-to-date records of client information and helping clients with other procedural tasks. Her philosophy of service is driven by Colossians 3:17 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

In her free time, Tabitha enjoys reading, gardening and watching football. She also enjoys trying to best her husband of 8 years, Jonathan, in electronic and board games. Together they have two adorable children, Abigail and Naomi. They make their home in Bemidji where Tabitha also serves as Treasurer and Stewardship Board member in their church.

How We Can Help You

You may have questions when it comes to your financial picture:

  • Am I on track for retirement?
  • Is my family's future a bright one?
  • What can I do to provide retirement income?
  • What is the true cost and effect of mistakes made today?
  • Is what I am doing really working?
  • How can I improve my lifestyle today and still provide a healthy retirement?
  • And many more...
Joseph advises a young couple

If you are doing the same things financially that everyone else is doing and find yourself thinking that you are going to be fine during retirement, you may need to rethink your position. According to a study conducted by ING, many Americans are not on target to retire the way they expect.

Whether you are saving for retirement or if you are already retired, I will teach you the rules to the financial game and then help you with strategies to manage your financial position and your finances so you can enjoy your life today while at the same time monitoring and helping you meet your future goals.

When you are ready let me know. I know that I can make a difference for you like I have for many others.
